Leehom Speaking 5 Languages

In addition to music, Leehom has an interest in learning new languages because he likes to learn about new cultures. Although he isn’t fluent in all of them, he takes great joy in the actual process of learning. That’s what I admire about him, his willpower when it comes to learning. Even if he isn’t perfect at something, he isn’t afraid to try it. He currently speaks fluently or conversationally Mandarin (started learning at 18), Cantonese (started learning around 2000), English (His first language), French (high school), and Japanese (started learning in 2004). Leehom wants to visit France one day so he can further pursue the learning of the language. I think it would be cool to learn as many languages as Leehom, but I don’t have the talent, determination, or patience to do so. lol.

Patricia Kuhl: The linguistic genius of babies

www.ted.com At TEDxRainier, Patricia Kuhl shares astonishing findings about how babies learn one language over another — by listening to the humans around them and “taking statistics” on the sounds they need to know. Clever lab experiments (and brain scans) show how 6-month-old babies use sophisticated reasoning to understand their world.

Using a whistle for an emergency recall – Clicker Dog Training Tutorial

www.pamsdogtraining.com http Find more games like this in my Play-N-Train Recall DVD. and you can buy it on my website. www.pamsdogtraining.com The Whistle recall is a game to play with your dog, but it has serious meaning behind it. It is so important to be able to get your dog to come to you in any situation, especially a dangerous situation. The point is to teach a solid recall one that does not have any baggage or what clicker trainers call “poisoned cues”. A poisoned cue can happen due to many reasons. Reasons a cue gets poisoned 1. The dog associates the cue with something bad happening. For example: An owner calls their dog to come and then you give him a bath. The owner calls the dog to come and then you give him medication. The owner calls the dog to come and then puts him in a crate. The owner calls the dog to come and then does something that the dog feels is a punishment. Now the dog will not want to come because just maybe he will be coming to one of those bad things and in his mind it is better to just keep his distance or keep having fun. 2. The owner had asked for the cue over and over without the dog responding. Pretty soon the cue becomes white noise and the dog will not respond to it. 3. The owner calls the dog to come and the dog does not come, but when the owner does finally get the dog they are so mad at the dog for not coming and they punish him, yell at him, or worse yet beat him. What dog would want to come to a mad mean owner. If the dog

Days of the Week | Learn English | Vocabulary

EXTRAS: linguaspectrum.com It’s not easy remembering the days of the week, even if you are a native speaker. It’s like learning to tie your shoelaces. I remember struggling for a long while till I finally managed to tie my own shoelaces. What an achievement that was, and yet how easy it is now. I don’t remember learning the days of the week in English, because I must have been rather young. However, learn them I did. I’m sure you had some problems learning the days of the week in your own language. I mean, it’s not as if the days of the week coincide with anything on a particular day, is it? If the moon was always full on a Monday, it would make sense to call it Monday, wouldn’t it? Monday means Moon Day. Unfortunately, the full moon can occur on any day of the week. And if Tuesday was always sunny, we could call it Sunday. Unfortunately, Sunday is already spoken for. And Sunday is not always sunny, is it? And even if it is where you live, all the other days probably are as well, so that doesn’t work, does it? Tuesday is actually named after the old Norse god, Týr, known in Old English as Tiw. Hence Tuesday. Tiw was the god of war, equivalent to the roman Mars. This is why romance language use Mars for Tuesday, as in the Spanish martes. But we don’t normally bump into gods of war on Tuesdays, or any other day of the week for that matter. There’s nothing to relate the name Tuesday with the day, is there? And then there’s Wednesday. Not exactly pronounced as it is written

Because English is so widely spoken, it has often been referred to as a “world language”, the lingua franca of the modern era.[15] While English is not an official language in most countries, it is currently the language most often taught as a foreign language around the world. Some linguists (such as David Graddol) believe that it is no longer the exclusive cultural property of “native English speakers”, but is rather a language that is absorbing aspects of cultures worldwide as it continues to grow.[15] It is, by international treaty, the official language for aerial and maritime communications.[55] English is an official language of the United Nations and many other international organisations, including the International Olympic Committee. English is the language most often studied as a foreign language in the European Union (by 89% of schoolchildren), followed by French (32%), German (18%), Spanish (8%), and Russian; while the perception of the usefulness
